| ?Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers? has been nominated for best film (producers Barrie M Osborne, Fran Walsh and Jackson) and has five other nominations, well down on its 13 nominations last year for the debut film, ?The Fellowship of the Ring.? Jackson himself missed a best director nomination; he was up against some of the industry?s greats ? among them, Martin Scorcese, Roman Polanski and Pedro Almovodar ? producing their best work in years. But observers are confident the creation of the creature Gollum (Jim Rygiel, Joe Letteri, Randal William Cook and Alex Funke), will easily win the visual effects award ahead of the other nominees, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Spider-Man. |
